NOT A DRY EYE IN THE PLACE.

A most touching event at one of my recent weddings, was when I was mentioning those unable to be in attendance at the beautiful Brides wedding, and thanking them for their well wishes. It had been hoped the Bride's Brother, a soldier in Iraq, may have managed to get leave to come home for his sister's wedding. Nothing had beeen heard for four days prior to the wedding and it looked very much like it was not going to happen. After thanking those not present for their wishes I was able to say how we had hoped that our Bride's brother would have loved to have been there, as he wanted to give his sister a big hug on her wedding day. The mood was now a little sombre. It then gave me great pleasure to call our Bride's brother, from hiding in the back row (known only to small few), to step forward and give his sister, that hug she had wished for, so hard. It took a little while to dry the eyes of almost every one present, but it really made her day.

How much fun is it to be a Marriage Celebrant

A young couple from Germany, contacted me via the Internet, asking if I could marry them in Hollywell. (The suburb I live in on the Gold Coast). I replied that it would be my pleasure, but had to ask them if they had really meant "Hollywood", as I was more than supprised that they should be so specific, after all the WORLD is a pretty big place. They came straight back to me, explaining they had friends that lived in the same suburb, and were very definite they meant "Hollywell". We were able to organise the entire wedding via the net, and some six months later, the happy couple tied the knot here on the Gold Coast, and then returned back to Germany. International weddings certainly can introduce some complex issues, but not really anything that cant be dealt with. Thus far I have had Brides from Dubai, Ethiopia, England, Malaysia, Japan and New Zealand to name a few. Learning of the customs and cultures is sometimes a lot of fun and very interesting.
